Marlín Ramlal - AXIS Re
Marlín Ramlal is an Assistant Vice President for AXIS Reinsurance, underwriting property and casualty treaty reinsurance programs for clients across the US. Marlín is an enthusiastic and dedicated underwriter with over 10 years of experience in primary insurance, brokerage and reinsurance. Prior to her career in reinsurance, she was an Excess & Surplus Lines Underwriter for Arthur J Gallagher’s MGA division RPS.
Marlín holds a B.S. in Actuarial Science from St. John’s University. She holds her CPCU, ARe and is pursuing her RPLU designation. Marlín has served on the board of the US Reinsurance Under 40s Group as Educational Tour Chair, Social and Networking Chair, and Education Chair. She is a member of the John Street Insurance Association and the Association of Professional Insurance Women. Marlin participates and volunteers for St. Baldrick’s, the Habitat for Humanity, Covenant House, and the Riverkeeper’s Foundations.
Blake Berman - Guy Carpenter
Blake is a Senior Vice President in Guy Carpenter’s New York office. He is a leader of Guy Carpenter’s Capital & Growth Advisory team, which assists clients with dynamic financial planning, reinsurance decision making, and formulating growth strategies. As part of this function, Blake oversees Guy Carpenter’s Risk Benchmarks Research, an annual study of insurance industry trends and data. Blake has eight years of experience as a property and casualty actuary in insurance and reinsurance. Prior to working at Guy Carpenter, Blake spent two years in a corporate actuarial function at Endurance Specialty Holdings.
Blake is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Graduate of Middlebury College.
Kelly Nickerson - FTI Consulting
Kelly is a Senior Director in FTI Consulting's Global Insurance Services group. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and has been providing litigation consulting and other advisory services for insurers and reinsurers for over eight years while at FTI, with prior experience as an auditor for Ernst & Young for global property and casualty insurers and reinsurers. Kelly has more than ten years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting and insurance-related matters, and has provided advice for matters involving complex insurance and reinsurance litigation, damage quantification and insolvency causation. Kelly currently serves as the Treasurer of the Reinsurance Under 40s group and has been involved with the group since 2012.
Neil Valsangkar - Mendes & Mount, LLP
Neil is a Partner at the law firm of Mendes & Mount, LLP. His practice involves various facets of insurance law, including multi-party complex coverage litigation, arbitration and mediation, claims servicing and monitoring, and risk/reserve management and analysis. Neil has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting comprehensive Coverage-in-Place Agreements, Structured Settlements, and Insurance Coverage Buybacks and Commutations. In connection with these endeavors, Neil has managed and computed various risk and net present value analysis, analyzed complex claims data, and examined historical policy subscriptions, placements and language.
He has been a member of the Re Under 40s since March 2014. As young professionals in the insurance industry, Neil believes that it is important to cultivate new relationships. The Re Under 40s group and its events are invaluable as they provide a venue for networking and furthering one's understanding of the reinsurance industry.
Stephanie Wizner - Arch Re
Stephanie Wizner is Assistant Vice President and Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter – Professional Lines at Safety National Reinsurance. She began her career on the actuarial reserving and financial reporting team at Arch Reinsurance. In 2015, she transitioned to the underwriting team as a professional liability treaty underwriter.
Stephanie also holds a NJ P&C and surplus lines producer license, and both the ARe and AINS designations. She is currently pursuing RPLU and CPCU designations as well. She has been attending Re Under 40s events since first joining the industry and served on the board as Charity Co-Chair since 2015. Stephanie looks forward to serving on the board once again as the Charity Co-chair, to continue collaborating with the board and our members as well as developing new charitable opportunities for our membership.
Robert W. DiUbaldo - Carlton Fields Jorden Burt
Rob DiUbaldo is a Shareholder in the New York office of Carlton Fields Jorden Burt. His practice focuses on insurance and reinsurance arbitration, litigation, regulatory matters and complex claims analysis on behalf of insurers, cedents, reinsurers and other entities engaged in the (re)insurance space. Mr. DiUbaldo has litigated, arbitrated and counseled clients on matters involving a broad range of issues in the property & casualty and life & health sectors, as well as many specialty lines, such as financial and surety products. He also counsels (re)insurers on regulatory issues, contract wording, insolvency matters, and commutation-related issues, and represents insurance companies, banks, lenders and other financial services companies in various types of litigation. Mr. DiUbaldo is a member of the ARIAS Law Committee, as well as a founder, former President and current board member of the U.S. Reinsurance Under 40s Group.
Ilir Dinovic - SCOR
Ilir Dinovic is Vice President and Senior Casualty Treaty underwriter at SCOR Reinsurance. He earned his BSc in Economics at Fairfield University and currently holds the CPCU, RPLU, and ARe designations. Ilir began his career in distribution at QBE, acting as an internal consultant to the primary P&C units. In 2013, he transitioned into QBE's reinsurance group as a casualty underwriter. In 2017, he joined SCOR to write a book of non-professional general and specialty casualty business.
Ilir's inaugural board term as Newsletter co-chair was in 2014, where he witnessed first-hand the potential for the RU40 newsletter to truly engage membership and reach every corner of the industry, spanning underwriting, claims, actuarial, legal, and advisory functions. Ilir is excited to leverage his industry relationships and draw on the collective resources of the group to continue compiling newsletters which are stimulating, relevant, and informative.
Sean O'Connor - Arch Insurance
Sean is currently an Underwriter at Arch Insurance Company working in their Executive Assurance Division - Financial Institutions/Financial Services group. Prior to Sean’s current role, he was an Underwriting Trainee at Arch Reinsurance Company where he was part of their Property and Surety teams. Sean is a graduate of the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and is a member of The Internal Honor Society of Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon.
Sean holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations. He has been the Education Chair for the Reinsurance Under 40’s Group since 2015. Outside of the insurance world, Sean is an active volunteer for a number of organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, of which he holds the Eagle Scout rank.
Nick Secara - Baker & McKenzie LLP
Nick Secara is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Banking, Finance and Major Projects Practice Group, and practices in the areas of insurance and reinsurance. He advises on sensitive, complex, high-value contentious and non-contentious matters. As part of his practice, Nick represents (re)insurers in arbitrations and judicial proceedings in the US and abroad. He also regularly advises (re)insurers on cross-border commercial transactions, and provides (re)insurance regulatory and structuring advice related to mergers, acquisitions and project development. In addition, Nick counsels clients on compliance, policy wording and corporate governance.
Nick has served on the Executive Board for the ReUnder40s for several years. In 2016, he co-founded the Insurance Federation of New York, Inc., Emerging Leaders, and is a member of its Advisory Council.
Sean Ramlal - QBE Re
Fundraising Chair & Technology Chair
Sean is currently a Vice President at QBE Re working as a treaty underwriter on their casualty reinsurance team. Before graduating from St. John's University's Actuarial Science program, Sean began his career as a claims intern at Platinum Re. From there, he joined CNA's actuarial rotation program in Chicago as an analyst for their Specialty Lines reserving team and their Worker's Compensation pricing team. In 2009, he returned to the reinsurance industry in New York to work for Allied World Re to price casualty treaties. He joined the underwriting team at QBE Re in 2014.
Sean holds the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations and has been named to the Intelligent Insurer's list of 40 Rising Stars Under 35. He has been involved with the Reinsurance Under 40s group since 2010 and previously served as the group's President.
Vanessa Contreras - SCOR Re

Vanessa Contreras is a Vice President and Professional Liability Underwriter at SCOR Reinsurance in Chicago, IL. She is responsible for underwriting and managing Professional Liability treaty placements including both medical and non-medical lines. She began her career in reinsurance in 2009, with Munich Re, as a Risk Analyst in their Development Trainee in Princeton, NJ. She transitioned into Professional Liability Underwriting in 2011, upon completion of the rotational program. Vanessa started with the Underwriting team at SCOR Re in Chicago, in October of 2017.
Vanessa holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance from The Katie School of Insurance at Illinois State University. She holds her CPCU, ARe and is in the process of pursuing her RPLU designation. Vanessa has been involved with the ReUnder 40s group since 2010. She is also a member of PLUS - Professional Liability Underwriting Society, the APIW - Association of Professional Insurance Women, The CPCU Society and in 2015 she was named to the Intelligent Insurer's list of 40 Rising Stars Under 35.
Jessica Palmer - Everest Re
Membership & Communications Chair
Jessica Palmer is a Manager with Everest Reinsurance Company, specializing in treaty reinsurance. Jess joined Everest’s Structured and Specialty Products team in 2014, working on customized reinsurance solutions for traditional and non-traditional clients. Jess transitioned into treaty reinsurance in 2016, where she enjoys working closely with brokers and clients to craft property and multi-line reinsurance solutions for her clients. In addition to underwriting, Jess has experience working in claims, legal and compliance, and business development. Jess also serves on Everest’s Women’s Networking Group steering committee.
Jess is a graduate of Cornell University. She holds her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance designations (ARe). She is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Dennis Smith - Guy Carpenter
Dennis is an Associate Broker in the New York office of Guy Carpenter’s Marine and Energy practice, having joined the team in 2013 after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame. Shortly after joining Guy Carpenter, Dennis entered the Guy Carpenter analyst training program, a year-long program that provides in-depth training, and now serves as part of Guy Carpenter’s Emerging Leaders board.
Over the last several years, Dennis has achieved Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM), and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designations. As an associate broker, Dennis is assigned to a variety of client teams, and works on a wide array of treaty placements—ranging from traditional marine excess of loss, to pro-rata offshore energy, to structured aggregate protections—as well as facultative placements. His appointment as Newsletter Co-chair is his first position on the Reinsurance Under 40s board.
Raghuveer Vinukollu - Swiss Re
Raghuveer Vinukollu is a Sr. Property Reinsurance underwriter at Swiss Re focusing on reinsurance programs. In his previous role as a Flood Specialist at Swiss Re, Raghuveer developed Natural Catastrophe models for River Flood and Storm Surge.
Raghuveer holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University with a focus on hydrology. Raghuveer strongly believes that the insurance industry helps make the world Resilient and is actively involved in promoting the insurance industry to millennials.
Gavin Brennan - BMS Intermediaries, Inc.
Gavin is currently an Assistant Vice President at BMS Intermediaries, Inc. in NYC. He joined the firm in March 2014 and serves as a reinsurance broker servicing a wide range of clientele on both new and renewal business. He began his career in 2010 as a junior broker in Willis Re's Philadelphia office working primarily on treaty business. In September 2012, he joined Marsh USA in NYC and transitioned to the primary side of the business. There, he served a diverse portfolio of middle market clients in Marsh's National Brokerage unit primarily focused on client's P&C insurance and risk management needs.
Gavin graduated from Wesleyan University in May 2010 with a B.A. in Economics. He holds the CPCU and ARe designations, as well as the New York State P&C broker's license. Outside of reinsurance his hobbies include: the Philadelphia Eagles, and golf.
Chris Martin - Trans Re
Chris is an Assistant Actuary at Transatlantic Reinsurance in New York, where he began his career in 2006.
He specializes in property reinsurance, where his primary responsibilities include pricing, managing the global rollup for TransRe’s internal catastrophe pricing model, and evaluating internal & external corporate retrocession decisions. In the past, Chris focused on pricing, reserving, and reporting for various traditional and specialty casualty lines.
Chris is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (2012). He graduated cum laude from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and received the W. Edwards Deming Award. His appointment as co-Social chair is his first position on the Reinsurance Under 40s board, he’s excited to contribute in a meaningful way.
Gina Ross - Munich Re
Gina is a Casualty Treaty Underwriter at Munich Re America. Based in Princeton, NJ, she focuses on workers compensation, general liability, auto liability, and umbrella liability for regional clients across the US.
Gina began her reinsurance career in the Graduate Reinsurance Development Program at Munich Re, a two-year rotational program with participants from across the global organization that combines primary insurance and reinsurance underwriting training and development. She had the opportunity to rotate through various areas across Munich Re, including primary insurance, contracts, facultative underwriting, claims, accounting, finance, reserving, actuarial pricing, and catastrophe management. She concluded her training by spending three months as a Casualty Facultative and Treaty Underwriting Trainee in Munich Re’s Madrid office.
Gina is a graduate of the Fox School of Business at Temple University where she received a BBA in Risk Management & Insurance. Gina holds the CPCU and ARe designations.
Hanbing He - Guy Carpenter
Hanbing He is an Assistant Vice President in Guy Carpenter’s Strategic Advisory®practice. With actuarial and computer science backgrounds, Hanbing’s role includes building databases, validating methodologies and optimizing models to help Guy Carpenter stay on the forefront of data and analytics. Hanbing holds a M.S. from Columbia University and a B.A. from CUFE in China. He continues to study towards the FCAS designation.
