Alex Mican - President 
Director, Specialty Lines Product Development, Verisk

Alex Mican is a director, product development manager, PCS, at ISO Claims Analytics, a division of Verisk Insurance Solutions. He focuses on developing new solutions for the global specialty market including marine, energy, cyber, terror, large loss and aviation.  Alex joined Verisk Insurance Solutions in 2014 and PCS in 2016. Originally from Romania, he came to the United States to study for his Masters of Business Administration degree, which he completed at Plymouth State University in 2011. 

Dalissa Sosa - Vice President 
Treaty Underwriter – Regional, Sompo International

Dalissa Sosa joined Sompo International Re (fka as Endurance Re) in October 2018 as an Underwriting Analyst. Dalissa transitioned into an Underwriter role in April 2021 in the Regional/Multi Line Unit. Sompo International Re’s Regional/Multi-Line Unit specializes in writing U.S. property, liability and multi-line working layer treaties for a mix of homeowners, auto, commercial, general liability, umbrella and low hazard workers’ compensation exposures on both a non-proportional and proportional basis. She earned her B.A. in Business Communication and Marketing at Baruch College and completion of the CPCU, RPLU, and ARe designations. She is experienced in underwriting analysis and claims within the reinsurance space. Prior to joining Sompo, Ms. Sosa worked as Senior Claims Analyst at Allied World Re where she gained an extensive background in handling complex claims in professional liability, casualty, property, marine and aviation. Over the past 3 years, Dalissa has been involved with the ReUnder 40s group. Initially volunteering in 2019 as Co-Chair of Charity Committee focusing on coordinating volunteer events for our members, and a year later as Co-Chair Educational Committee focusing on industry subject matter. For the 2021-2022 terms, she looks forward to broadening her experience as Vice President of the ReUnder 40s and providing her experience to expand the ReUnder 40s mission and goals.

Neil Valsangkar - Treasurer
Vice President, Claims & Risk Services, York International Agency 

Neil is Vice President and head of claims and risk at York International Agency, a insurance broker in New York. Neil manages a team of claims professionals and has experience handling matters under all lines of coverage including general liability, first party property, directors & officers, crime, employment practices liability, fiduciary, professional liability. In addition to providing coverage analysis and defense strategy, Neil assists c-suite level clients with building best practice protocols for risk mitigation, including drafting contract language for risk transfer. Prior to joining York, Neil was a partner at the law firm of Mendes & Mount where he practiced insurance coverage litigation, insurance defense and assisted clients with insurance related transactions.

Nick Secara - Secretary
Deputy General Counsel, Ascot Group

Nick Secara is Deputy General Counsel, NA for Ascot Group, an international specialty risk assumption organization.  Nick counsels Ascot’s two US operating divisions: Ascot US, an admitted and surplus lines carrier; and Ethos Specialty, a managing general underwriter.  Prior to joining Ascot, Nick spent seven years in private practice at leading international law firms, where he advised insurers and reinsurers, producers and other intermediaries on high-value disputes and complex regulatory matters and transactions, as well as FinTech companies at the forefront of blockchain development and deployment.

Nick is well published and has spoken on current issues affecting the insurance and FinTech industries, including how the implementation of blockchain technology could disrupt the insurance market, financial regulatory developments in offshore jurisdictions relating to digital assets, and the manner in which concussion-related class actions could impact liability policies.

Nick currently serves on the Executive Board for the U.S. ReUnder 40s as Secretary.  He also serves on the Advisory Council for the Emerging Leaders, a division of the Insurance Federation of New York, Inc. that he co-founded.  Nick graduated from Middlebury College and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law

Alex Silverman - Charity Co-Chair 
Associate, Carlton Fields 
Alex Silverman is an Attorney in the New York office of Carlton Fields, P.A. His practices focuses on complex multiparty insurance coverage litigation, arbitration, and mediation on behalf of U.S. and international insurers, cedents, reinsurers, and other entities. He also regularly counsels clients in connection with complex claims analysis, monitoring, servicing, and risk management. Alex has litigated, arbitrated, and advised clients on matters involving a broad range of insurance/reinsurance issues, including clergy sexual abuse claims and litigation arising from the N.Y. Child Victims Act, toxic tort-related bodily injury and environmental property damage, construction defects, securities class actions, government investigations, and other financial lines matters, and life reinsurance-related issues. Alex graduated with high honors from the University of Rhode Island and New York Law School, and currently serves on the board of the U.S. Reinsurance Under 40s Group

Taylor Ward - Charity Co-Chair 
Consultant, Global Insurance Services, FTI Consulting

Taylor Ward joined FTI Consulting’s Forensic and Litigation segment in February 2020 as a Consultant in the Global Insurance Services (“GIS”) practice. As a professional within GIS, she advises participants within the insurance and reinsurance market regarding forensic accounting, investigations, litigation consulting, and financial advisory matters. She previously worked for a Commercial & Property Insurance Managing General Agency based out of Louisiana in the Claims, Accounting and Administration departments. She earned her Master of Accountancy from Auburn University and holds the designations of CPA and CPCU. 

Danny Souza - Communications & Membership Co-Chair
Assistant Vice President, Acrisure Re
Danny is an Assistant Vice President at Acrisure Re focused on the placement of insurance and reinsurance in the property and casualty space with an emphasis on regional business, but he has been involved in placing (re)insurance for multi-line, property catastrophe, excess casualty, inland marine, retrocession and automobile lines of business. He has recently worked with various InsurTech companies as well. Danny attended San Francisco State University as a student-athlete from 2011 – 2015, competing for four years on the university baseball team. He graduated as the College of Business Hood Recipient in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, focused in Business Administration, Finance. He holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation from the AICPCU.

Carlos Matos - Communications & Membership Co-Chair
Treaty Underwriter, QBE Re

Carlos Matos is currently a Treaty Underwriter at QBE Re in New York City. He works with QBE's casualty reinsurance and multi-line teams.  Prior to joining QBE Re, Carlos attended St. John's University, earning the diploma in Risk and Insurance at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business.  This is a 1-year, two semester, 24 credit certificate program which helped him build a strong foundation of (re)insurance to kick-start his career.  Additionally, Carlos has a Bachelors of Science in Resource Economics with a minor in Business Fundamentals from the University of Connecticut

Daina Ridler - Communications & Membership Co-Chair
Contract Writer, Reinsurance Division, Munich Re

Daina joined the Reinsurance Division of Munich Re America, Inc. (MRAm) in 2017 where she drafts, reviews and advises underwriters and client managers on facultative and treaty reinsurance agreements primarily for quota share and excess of loss reinsurance agreements as well as reviewing and advising on certificates. In addition, she helps manage the Contract Department sharepoint site and spearheaded the contract analysis automation project. Prior to joining Munich Re, Daina studied at the University at Albany earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with a double concentration in Management and Information Technology Management and double minor in Theatre and Judaic Studies. After working in the IT field for several years, Daina attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and is a licensed attorney in CT, MA, NJ and NY. Shortly after joining the insurance industry in 2017, Daina began attending ReUnder40’s events and looks forward to utilizing her technology and organizational skills to assist the Communications team to pursue the amazing endeavors of the Reinsurance Under 40s industry group

Devonne Cusi - Communications & Membership Co-Chair
Director Global Communications, Kroll

Devonne Cusi is a Director Global Communications at Kroll. She used to be senior public relations manager at Risk Management Solutions, Inc. (RMS). She joined RMS in 2017 and focuses on educating the (re)insurance industry about the value of continual innovation in global risk data and technologies. Prior to RMS, Devonne worked at public relations agencies in New Jersey and New York supporting communications and social media strategies for companies within the financial services and organizations, insurtech, biotech, and clean tech sectors. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the George Washington University.

Gina Ross Dean - Communications & Membership Co-Chair - University Outreach

VP, Casualty Treaty Underwriter, Munich Re US 

Gina is a VP, Casualty Treaty Underwriter at Munich Re US. Based in Princeton, NJ, she focuses on Casualty lines for clients across the US. Gina began her reinsurance career in the Graduate Reinsurance Development Program at Munich Re, a two-year rotational program with participants from across the global organization that combines primary insurance and reinsurance underwriting training and development.

Gina is a graduate of the Fox School of Business at Temple University where she received a BBA in Risk Management & Insurance and holds the CPCU and ARe designations. Gina previously served on the Re Under 40s Board as the Educational Tour Chair, organizing a trip to Zurich and Munich in April 2018, and looks forward to continuing her role as a Communications and Membership Co-Chair.

Grant Donkervoet - Education Co-Chair 
Analytics Lead, VP, Swiss Re

Grant is an Analytics Lead, VP at a SwissRe. In his role, he provides insurance expertise in support of data-driven underwriting for customers and supports product development amongst his team of data scientists and engineers.  This encompasses actuarial and underwriting transformation initiatives leveraging new technology and data sources to reduce operational inefficiencies and improve underwriting performance.

Grant is an experienced actuary working in consulting, primary commercial insurance and insurtech throughout his 12 year career.  He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and completed his CPCU designation.  He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in economics.  Grant is passionate about technology trends and new business models transforming the insurance industry.  He is married and a proud father of two.

Giuseppe Aguanno - Education Co-Chair 
Partner, Mendes & Mount
Giuseppe is a Partner at the law firm of Mendes & Mount, LLP in its Complex Claims and Litigation Practice Group. His practice involves various facets of insurance law, including multi-party complex insurance coverage litigation, arbitration and mediation, claims servicing and monitoring, and risk/reserve management and analysis. Giuseppe has negotiated Coverage in Place Agreements, full policy commutations and structured settlements while also defending clients in coverage litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Giuseppe also serves as monitoring counsel for various insurance companies as well as coordinating counsel for various aviation assureds, whereby he manages aviation-related exposure claims. His experience includes supervising and coordinating defense strategies throughout the country, as well as defending legal actions in various exposure and products liability matters. He also works on marine and energy matters representing insurers and reinsurers with respect to coverage issues or defending assureds where coverage has been accepted.

Andre Wright - Finance Chair
Claims Analyst, PCS

Andre Wright is a PCS Claims Analyst at Verisk Analytics. He is responsible for calculating catastrophe loss estimates that occur in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In addition to the calculation of industry loss estimates, he is also responsible for designating and resurveying specialty line estimates. Andre received his BA in Economics from Purdue University and joined the Verisk team in 2019. Prior to joining the Verisk Team, he worked in the small business funding space as an underwriter.

Gavin J. Brennan - Social Co-Chair 
Senior Vice President, BMS Re US
Gavin is currently a Senior Vice President at BMS Re US based in the NYC office. He joined the firm in March 2014 and serves as a reinsurance broker servicing a wide range of clientele on both new and renewal Property & Casualty lines of business. With a focus on treaty reinsurance, he handles both traditional carrier and program (MGA) business. As part of the NYC broker team, his chief goals are retaining and growing the NYC book of business while working alongside his superb team of colleagues. He began his career in 2010 as a broker trainee in Willis Re’s Philadelphia office working primarily on treaty business and learning the craft of becoming a reinsurance broker. In September 2012, he transitioned to the primary side of the business and joined Marsh USA in NYC. There he served a diverse portfolio of middle market clients in Marsh’s National Brokerage unit primarily focused on client’s P&C insurance and risk management needs. Gavin graduated from Wesleyan University in May 2010 with a B.A. in Economics. He holds the CPCU, ARe and ARM designations, as well as being a licensed New York State P&C broker. Outside of reinsurance his hobbies include spending time with his newborn son Freddie, as well as golfing, the Philadelphia Eagles and the music of the Grateful Dead.

Chris Martin - Social Co-Chair
AVP, Actuarial Manager, Odyssey Re
Chris is an AVP, Actuarial Manager at Odyssey Re. Chris began his career in 2006 as an actuary at Transatlantic Reinsurance in New York. He currently specializes in property reinsurance, where his primary responsibilities include pricing, managing the global rollup for Odyssey's internal catastrophe pricing model, and evaluating internal & external corporate retrocession decisions. In the past, Chris focused on pricing, reserving, and reporting for various traditional and specialty casualty lines.
Chris is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (2012). He graduated cum laude from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business and received the W. Edwards Deming Award. His appointment as co-Social chair is his first position on the Reinsurance Under 40s board, he's excited to contribute in a meaningful way.

Lauren Dalton - Social Co-Chair
Attorney, Willkie Farr & Gallagher

Lauren is an Associate in the Corporate & Financial Services Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York. Her practice focuses on merger and acquisition transactions in the insurance industry, complex reinsurance transactions and insurance regulatory matters. Prior to living in New York, Lauren counseled clients on cross-border corporate deals at an international law firm in Toronto, Canada and worked on a foreign investment project at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.Sc. and J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and an L.L.M. in International Business Law from American University. This is her second year serving as a Social Committee Co-Chair on the Reinsurance Under 40 Board

Ilir Dinovic - Technology 
Vice-President, SCOR

Ilir Dinovic is Vice President and Senior Casualty Treaty underwriter at SCOR responsible for developing and servicing a diverse portfolio of casualty business.  He earned his BSc in Economics at Fairfield University and holds the CPCU, RPLU and ARe designations.  He was most recently a treaty underwriter at QBE Re and before that, he worked in QBE's Global Distribution group where he served as an internal consultant to the primary P&C business units and developed a strong foundation for the insurance business.  Ilir has been involved with the group since 2014 and has held the positions of Newsletter Co-Chair, Education Co-Chair and President of the group. 

Sean Ramlal - Tour Chair
Vice President, Treaty Underwriter, Ascot Re


Sean is currently a Vice President at Ascot Re working as a treaty underwriter on their casualty and professional liability reinsurance team in Bermuda. Sean graduated from St. John's University's Actuarial Science program and since had various roles of elevating responsibilities on the actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams of various organizations, including Platinum Re (now RenaissanceRe), CNA, Allied World Re, QBE Re, and ABR Re in Chicago, New York, and Bermuda. He joined the underwriting team at Ascot Re in 2019.

Sean holds the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU),  Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU)  designations and has been named to the Intelligent Insurer's list of 40 Rising Stars Under 35. He has been involved with the Reinsurance Under 40s group since 2010 and has served as the group's President among other roles.
