Grant Donkervoet - President
VP Analytics Data Scientist, Swiss Re
Grant Donkervoet is an actuarial data scientist supporting the US Casualty Reinsurance business of Swiss Re. He leads analytical efforts incorporating a combination of actuarial and data science applications to improve underwriting performance of the business. Prior to this role, he held many technology-focused actuarial roles within the insurtech space as well as traditional carriers. His experience has focused on Grant is an experienced actuary working in consulting, commercial insurance and insurtech throughout his 12 year career. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and achieved the CPCU designation. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in economics. Grant is passionate about technology trends and new business models transforming the insurance industry. He is married and a proud father of two. |

Alex Mican - Vice President

Alex Mican is a director, product development manager, PCS, at ISO Claims Analytics, a division of Verisk Insurance Solutions. He focuses on developing new solutions for the global specialty market including marine, energy, cyber, terror, large loss and aviation. Alex joined Verisk Insurance Solutions in 2014 and PCS in 2016. Originally from Romania, he came to the United States to study for his Masters of Business Administration degree, which he completed at Plymouth State University in 2011.

Andre Wright - Treasurer & Finance

Andre Wright is a PCS Claims Analyst at Verisk Analytics. He is responsible for calculating catastrophe loss estimates that occur in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In addition to the calculation of industry loss estimates, he is also responsible for designating and resurveying specialty line estimates. Andre received his BA in Economics from Purdue University and joined the Verisk team in 2019. Prior to joining the Verisk Team, he worked in the small business funding space as an underwriter.

Nick Secara is a special counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP in New York City. Nick represents (re)insurers, producers, TPAs and other insurance industry participants, primarily in regulatory, transactional and corporate matters. He counsels across all lines of business, with a focus on L&H and specialty P&C. Prior to joining Foley, Nick served as Deputy General Counsel, NA, for a global specialty risk assumption organization, where he was integral to the launch and rapid growth of its NA platform, which includes a diverse portfolio of companies: multiple (re)insurance carriers (admitted and surplus lines) and MGUs; specialty P&C portfolio/programs; surety and WC platforms; and a Lloyd’s coverholder. Nick also has represented clients in high-value coverage and commercial disputes, and advised on FinTech/InsurTech matters involving blockchain and digital asset development. |

Mike Ramsey is a Marketing and Strategy analyst with Swiss Re. Mike graduated from Florida State University in 2021 with a degree in Risk Management and Actuarial Studies.Upon graduating, he moved to NYC to begin his career in the reinsurance industry with Swiss Re as a Strategy Analyst. At Swiss Re he support the company's North American Facultative Property and Casualty book.

Taylor Ward - Charity Co-Chair
Sr. Consultant, Global Insurance Services, FTI Consulting
Taylor Ward has 10 years of experience in the insurance industry. She has provided support and innovated processes across departments including information technology, human resources and accounting.
Ms. Ward spent 8 years with a commercial property and casualty managing general agency. She spent 7 of those years in the accounting department where she focused on month-end procedures and accounts payable while she revamped the collections process to decrease accounts receivable. She spent 1 year in the claims department as a claims adjuster who handled all subrogation claims and property damage claims. In addition to her accounting and claims duties, she recorded the minutes for weekly claims meetings and litigation update meetings, assisted with new and updated marketing contracts, planned company team building and engagement opportunities, planned logistics for company outings and promotions, created and maintained office manuals and assisted the Chief Information Officer with IT software implementation and updates, including Insurance Management System (IMS) and ImageRight software, and hardware updates and maintenance.
Since joining FTI, Ms. Ward has assisted in the investigation of one of the largest fraud cases in the United States. She has collaborated with a team of professionals to provide investigative services and litigation support to the court-appointed trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities and his counsel. She also assisted an insurance agency in the investigation of a fraud related to a captive insurance program, which included assisting counsel in the development of an investigation report, responding to state regulatory inquiries, and evaluating process improvements that would assist the insurance agency.
Ms. Ward holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern State University and a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds her Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation and Louisiana Claims Adjuster license. She is also a member of Association of Professional Insurance Women and Reinsurance Under 40s. Ms. Ward is currently studying to be a Certified Fraud Examiner, which she hopes to obtain in 2022

Devonne Cusi - Communications & Membership Co-Chair

Devonne Cusi is a Director Global Communications at Kroll. She used to be senior public relations manager at Risk Management Solutions, Inc. (RMS). She joined RMS in 2017 and focuses on educating the (re)insurance industry about the value of continual innovation in global risk data and technologies. Prior to RMS, Devonne worked at public relations agencies in New Jersey and New York supporting communications and social media strategies for companies within the financial services and organizations, insurtech, biotech, and clean tech sectors. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the George Washington University.

Daina Rindler - Communications & Membership Co-Chair

Daina joined Munich Re America Services, Inc. (MRAS) in April 2022 with a focus on Contract Law. Daina first joined Munich Re in 2017 as a Contract Writer in the Reinsurance Division of Munich Re America, Inc. where she focused on reinsurance agreements and helped manage the Contracts Department’s sharepoint site as well as spearheaded the contract analysis automation project. Prior to joining Munich Re, Daina studied at the University at Albany earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with a double concentration in Management and Information Technology Management and double minor in Theatre and Judaic Studies. After working in the IT field for several years, Daina attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and is a licensed attorney in CT, MA, NJ and NY. Shortly after joining the insurance industry in 2017, Daina began attending ReUnder40’s events and looks forward to utilizing her technology and organizational skills to assist the Communications team to pursue the amazing endeavors of the Reinsurance Under 40s industry group.

Jake graduated from Gettysburg College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Will began his career in reinsurance in late 2019 when he joined Acrisure Re (formerly Beach Re) as a Jr. Account Manager after two years of government and successful political campaign work. As a Broker Analyst at Acrisure Re, Will manages a broad range of property and casualty accounts, supporting production efforts and assisting in the coordination and placement of new and renewal reinsurance business. After four years of competing as a student-athlete, Will graduated Loyola University Maryland in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and U.S. History and is in the process of earning the Associate in Reinsurance designation from AICPCU.

Logan McLain - Communications & Membership Co-Chair - University Outreach & DEI
Director of Business Development, N.A., Supercede Logan is the Director of Business Development, North America, for Supercede, an end-to-end reinsurance placement platform. Mr. McLain has been in the reinsurance industry for nearly 10 At Business Insurance “Young Gun” alumni (awarded annually to excelling insurance professionals under 35), Logan is responsible for the day to day business development operations and customer management primarily in the US Property & Casualty market for Supercede, with a focus on cedent insurance companies, reinsurance brokers, and reinsurers. Prior to joining Supercede, he spent nearly 8 years at Hartford Steam Boiler managing MGA and carrier assumed reinsurance portfolios, developing a vast understanding of the various inner workings of reinsurance transactions. During his tenure, Mr. McLain was a founding Board Member of the Young Professionals Employee Resource Group. Logan is a Graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. When he is not working, Logan can be found playing with his 135lb Great Dane named Delilah. . |

Giuseppe Aguanno - Education Co-Chair

Giuseppe is a Partner at the law firm of Mendes & Mount, LLP in its Complex Claims and Litigation Practice Group. His practice involves various facets of insurance law, including multi-party complex insurance coverage litigation, arbitration and mediation, claims servicing and monitoring, and risk/reserve management and analysis. Giuseppe has negotiated Coverage in Place Agreements, full policy commutations and structured settlements while also defending clients in coverage litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Giuseppe also serves as monitoring counsel for various insurance companies as well as coordinating counsel for various aviation assureds, whereby he manages aviation-related exposure claims. His experience includes supervising and coordinating defense strategies throughout the country, as well as defending legal actions in various exposure and products liability matters. He also works on marine and energy matters representing insurers and reinsurers with respect to coverage issues or defending assureds where coverage has been accepted.

Brendan Hillin - Education Co-Chair

Brendan Hillin is currently a Marine Treaty Underwriter at Swiss Re, providing risk transfer solutions to clients across the US. In addition, he is in Swiss Re's Graduate Program, an 18-month training and rotational program learning from and working with various departments within the organization. Prior to joining Swiss Re, Brendan obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Economics from Fordham University. Brendan is an active member of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU), the Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA), and the American Marine Insurance Forum (AMIF). His appointment as Education Co-Chair is his first position on the Reinsurance Under 40s Board.

Alexander Torske has been with Munich Re since 2017. He currently works as a Property Treaty Underwriter for Munich Re US under the Global Clients / North America division based out of NYC. Prior to Property Treaty underwriting, he spent two years as a Graduate Trainee completing rotations and projects for various Munich Re business units such as American Modern Insurance Group- product development, Insuretech, Ocean Marine, Casualty Facultative, and central US P&C entities including Reserving, Strategy, and Claims. Alexander studied Finance and Economics at McGill University and holds CPCU and ARe designations. |

Gavin J. Brennan - Social Co-Chair

Gavin is currently a Senior Vice President at BMS Re US based in the NYC office. He joined the firm in March 2014 and serves as a reinsurance broker servicing a wide range of clientele on both new and renewal Property & Casualty lines of business. With a focus on treaty reinsurance, he handles both traditional carrier and program (MGA) business. As part of the NYC broker team, his chief goals are retaining and growing the NYC book of business while working alongside his superb team of colleagues. He began his career in 2010 as a broker trainee in Willis Re’s Philadelphia office working primarily on treaty business and learning the craft of becoming a reinsurance broker. In September 2012, he transitioned to the primary side of the business and joined Marsh USA in NYC. There he served a diverse portfolio of middle market clients in Marsh’s National Brokerage unit primarily focused on client’s P&C insurance and risk management needs. Gavin graduated from Wesleyan University in May 2010 with a B.A. in Economics. He holds the CPCU, ARe and ARM designations, as well as being a licensed New York State P&C broker. Outside of reinsurance his hobbies include spending time with his newborn son Freddie, as well as golfing, the Philadelphia Eagles and the music of the Grateful Dead.

Lauren is an Associate in the Corporate & Financial Services Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York. Her practice focuses on merger and acquisition transactions in the insurance industry, complex reinsurance transactions and insurance regulatory matters. Prior to living in New York, Lauren counseled clients on cross-border corporate deals at an international law firm in Toronto, Canada and worked on a foreign investment project at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.Sc. and J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and an L.L.M. in International Business Law from American University. This is her second year serving as a Social Committee Co-Chair on the Reinsurance Under 40 Board.

As an underwriter, Thomas focusses on Facultative Builders Risk and Contractors Plant & Equipment coverages. Mike is currently a Casualty Treaty Underwriter with Munich Re US. He joined Munich Re in January of 2018 as a Product Analyst before taking part in their Graduate Trainee program. Since exiting the program, Mike has been working in casualty treaty underwriting focusing on US based clients. Mike is a graduate of Florida State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in both RMI, Risk Management and Insurance, as well as Finance. Since joining the industry, Mike has completed both his CPCU and ARe designations. Mike has also held various committee roles within Employee Resource Groups during his time at Munich Re as well as trying to remain a connected RMI Alum of FSU in order to mentor and teach future leaders about the reinsurance industry. |

Carlos Matos is currently a Treaty Underwriter at QBE Re in New York City. He works with QBE's casualty reinsurance and multi-line teams. Prior to joining QBE Re, Carlos attended St. John's University, earning the diploma in Risk and Insurance at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business. This is a 1-year, two semester, 24 credit certificate program which helped him build a strong foundation of (re)insurance to kick-start his career. Additionally, Carlos has a Bachelors of Science in Resource Economics with a minor in Business Fundamentals from the University of Connecticut.

Steve Hiott is a Broker of the New York production department at Holborn Corporation. Steven grew up in Birmingham, AL before graduating from the University of Alabama in 2014 with Bachelor’s Degrees focused in Economics and Philosophy. At Holborn, Steven plays an essential role in helping to manage and intermediate client’s reinsurance programs. Steven has earned his Associates in Reinsurance and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designations and is currently pursuing his Advanced Financial Modeling designation. Steve spends his spare volunteering with the University of Alabama Alumni Association (New York City Chapter) as acting president. |

Madhuri Kumar is a capital actuary and services firms on risk exposure analytics, economic and regulatory capital management, reinsurance structuring and climate risk modelling in a wide range of re/insurance markets. She works as a research volunteer in multiple working parties for international actuarial and industry groups including sustainability, climate risk, Solvency II, and Atlantic hurricanes. Outside of an actuarial and finance background, she holds qualifications in Climate risk and Sustainability. She’s currently Executive Director and Lead of Climate services for URS, a capital technology and risk advisory firm based in New York. |

Sean Ramlal - Tour Chair

Sean is currently a Vice President at Ascot Re working as a treaty underwriter on their casualty and professional liability reinsurance team in Bermuda. Sean graduated from St. John's University's Actuarial Science program and since had various roles of elevating responsibilities on the actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams of various organizations, including Platinum Re (now RenaissanceRe), CNA, Allied World Re, QBE Re, and ABR Re in Chicago, New York, and Bermuda. He joined the underwriting team at Ascot Re in 2019. Sean holds the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designations and has been named to the Intelligent Insurer's list of 40 Rising Stars Under 35. He has been involved with the Reinsurance Under 40s group since 2010 and has served as the group's President among other roles. |
