Biography:
Michael Sapnar is currently President and CEO of Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries, Transatlantic Reinsurance Company (a wholly owned operating company of Alleghany Corporation) and Fair American Insurance and Reinsurance Company (Fairco).
Mike joined TransRe in 1995 as an AVP in the Special Casualty Unit underwriting D&O, E&O and Medical Malpractice. He transferred to the London office in June 1996. He was the Underwriting Manager of the London Branch from July 1998 until February 2002 when he returned to the New York office serving as the CUO for North America until his current role.
Prior to TRC, Mike spent 8 years at Continental Insurance as an underwriter and branch manager for the Guaranty and Credit division. He handled mostly D&O, E&O and Fidelity business during that period.
Mike earned a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.
