Grant Donkervoet - President 
Senior Consultant, Swiss Re - Reinsurance Solutions Risk Consulting and Analytics

Grant Donkervoet is a P&C Analytics Lead North America with a focus on casualty lines within Swiss Re Solutions. He leads client management, product development, and strategy in support of developing solutions for primary underwriting entities. Prior to this role, he held many technology-focused actuarial roles within the insurtech space as well as traditional carriers. His experience has focused on developing applications and tools in support of data-driven underwriting. These efforts spanned working in multifunctional teams of actuaries, data scientists, and engineers.

Grant is an experienced actuary working in consulting, commercial insurance, and insurtech throughout his 13 year career. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and achieved the CPCU designation. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in economics. Grant is passionate about technology trends and new business models transforming the insurance industry. He is married and a proud father of two.

Taylor Ward - Vice President 
Sr. Consultant, Global Insurance Services, FTI Consulting
 
Taylor Ward is a Senior Consultant within the Global Insurance Services practice of FTI Consulting. Some of her work at FTI has included: assisting in the investigation of one of the largest fraud cases in the United States; supporting experts in litigation matters; investigating potential and suspected fraud cases; and working alongside insurance companies to improve various processes. Prior to her employment with FTI, Taylor worked in the accounting and claims departments of a Managing General Agency in Louisiana servicing commercial accounts with their property and casualty lines of business.
 
Ward holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern State University and a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. She also holds her Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter Designation and Louisiana Claims Adjuster license. In addition to her current role as Vice President of Reinsurance Under 40s, she is an active member of the New York City Association of Insurance Women and the Association of Professional Insurance Women.”

 Bob Liu is a Vice President at Atlas SP Partners, a subsidiary of Apollo Global Management. He focuses on Residential Mortgage Securitization, Warehouse Lending, and Portfolio Management. Prior to this role, he worked for Aon Reinsurance Solutions where he placed Credit Risk Transfer treaties for GSEs, mortgage insurance companies, and banks.
 
Bob has over 10 years of professional experience working across insurance, reinsurance, and banking industries. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Texas at Austin and holds the CPCU designation. Bob started his career as an Auto Claims Adjuster at State Farm Insurance in Austin, Texas.

Fred is a Senior Broker within Lockton Re’s Retrocession and Property Specialty team. Fred joined Lockton Re in London in September 2020, from Aon. At Lockton Re Fred supports clients by structuring and placing proportional and non-proportional reinsurance and retrocession protections for both Catastrophe and single risk exposures. Fred completed the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) in 2019 and gained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in July 2021. Since August 2022, Fred has been based in Lockton Re’s New York office, working more closely with Retrocession and Property Specialty clients based in the USA, while studying part-time for an MBA at NYU Stern.

Devonne Cusi is a Director Global Communications at Kroll. She used to be senior public relations manager at Risk Management Solutions, Inc. (RMS). She joined RMS in 2017 and focuses on educating the (re)insurance industry about the value of continual innovation in global risk data and technologies. Prior to RMS, Devonne worked at public relations agencies in New Jersey and New York supporting communications and social media strategies for companies within the financial services and organizations, insurtech, biotech, and clean tech sectors. Jeremy Eberly is a property treaty broker at Guy Carpenter. He focuses on helping (re)insurers optimize their reinsurance purchase to achieve growth, capital, and volatility goals. He is also a member of the North American Property Center of Excellence team, which delivers property product-specific market insights for clients and industry press publication.

Brendan Hillin - Education Co-Chair

Brendan Hillin is currently a Marine Underwriter at Munich Re providing risk transfer solutions to clients across the US. Prior to joining Munich Re, he completed the Graduate Program at Swiss Re, a training and rotation program designed to learn from and work with various departments within the organization and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Economics from Fordham University. Brendan is an active member of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU), the Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA) and currently also serving on the American Marine Insurance Forum (AMIF) Board as a Program/Event Director. Alexander Torske - Education Co-Chair

Alexander Torske has been with Munich Re since 2017. He currently works as a Property Treaty Underwriter for Munich Re US under the Global Clients / North America division based out of NYC. Prior to Property Treaty underwriting, he spent two years as a Graduate Trainee completing rotations and projects for various Munich Re business units such as American Modern Insurance Group- product development, Insuretech, Ocean Marine, Casualty Facultative, and central US P&C entities including Reserving, Strategy, and Claims. Alexander studied Finance and Economics at McGill University and holds CPCU and ARe designations.

Gavin J. Brennan - Social Co-Chair

Gavin is currently a Senior Vice President at BMS Re US based in the NYC office. He joined the firm in March 2014 and serves as a reinsurance broker servicing a wide range of clientele on both new and renewal Property & Casualty lines of business. With a focus on treaty reinsurance, he handles both traditional carrier and program (MGA) business. As part of the NYC broker team, his chief goals are retaining and growing the NYC book of business while working alongside his superb team of colleagues. He began his career in 2010 as a broker trainee in Willis Re’s Philadelphia office working primarily on treaty business and learning the craft of becoming a reinsurance broker. In September 2012, he transitioned to the primary side of the business and joined Marsh USA in NYC. There he served a diverse portfolio of middle market clients in Marsh’s National Brokerage unit primarily focused on client’s P&C insurance and risk management needs. Gavin graduated from Wesleyan University in May 2010 with a B.A. in Economics. He holds the CPCU, ARe and ARM designations, as well as being a licensed New York State P&C broker. Outside of reinsurance his hobbies include spending time with his newborn son Freddie, as well as golfing, the Philadelphia Eagles and the music of the Grateful Dead.

Lauren Dalton - Social Co-Chair

Lauren is an Associate in the Corporate & Financial Services Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York. Her practice focuses on merger and acquisition transactions in the insurance industry, complex reinsurance transactions and insurance regulatory matters. Prior to living in New York, Lauren counseled clients on cross-border corporate deals at an international law firm in Toronto, Canada and worked on a foreign investment project at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.Sc. and J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and an L.L.M. in International Business Law from American University. This is her second year serving as a Social Committee Co-Chair on the Reinsurance Under 40 Board.

Hunter Rotchford - Social Co-Chair

Hunter Rotchford is a Vice President at BMS Re in New York City, placing quota and excess of loss treaty reinsurance business across a variety of P&C Lines. Hunter has strong focus on Program (MGA) business and InsurTechs assisting with carrier finding and reinsurance placements. Kevin English - Social Co-Chair
Underwriter, Liberty Mutual Re
 

Kevin is an underwriter working in the US Treaty Casualty team for Liberty Mutual Reinsurance in Stamford, CT. Prior to joining the reinsurance industry, Kevin obtained a degree in Economics & Finance from University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Joining LMRe in 2021 in the graduate development program, Kevin has had the opportunity to rotate throughout all underwriting and functional teams within LMRe US and has also spent a summer working for LMRe’s International Treaty Property team in London, UK. Now moving into his full time role in the US Treaty Casualty team, Kevin is excited to learn more about the market and look to utilize skills he’s learned across different lines. Kevin also obtained an Associate in Reinsurance in the fall of 2022.

Michael McAllister - Social Co-Chair

Mike is currently a Casualty Treaty Underwriter with Munich Re US.  He joined Munich Re in January of 2018 as a Product Analyst before taking part in their Graduate Trainee program.  Since exiting the program, Mike has been working in casualty treaty underwriting focusing on US based clients. 

Mike is a graduate of Florida State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in both RMI, Risk Management and Insurance, as well as Finance.   Since joining the industry, Mike has completed both his CPCU and ARe designations.  Mike has also held various committee roles within Employee Resource Groups during his time at Munich Re as well as trying to remain a connected RMI Alum of FSU in order to mentor and teach future leaders about the reinsurance industry.

     

     
Daniel Guimaraes - Social Co-Chair

Daniel has been with Munich Re since 2021 as a member of the International Graduate Trainee program. In that position, Daniel completed rotations in all different Lines of Business and departments while working towards his CPCU designation. Now that his program is complete, Daniel achieved the role of Cyber Reinsurance Underwriter focusing mainly on quantifying cyber exposure growth within the portfolio using his wide range of data analytics skills, and contributing to clients relationship. Previously, Daniel interned for Grupo ODEM and Munich Re, both in Mexico City, as well as Suno Research in São Paulo, Brazil. Daniel received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Rutgers University – New Brunswick. He is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Carlo A. Matos - Technology Co-Chair
AVP Lead Treaty Underwriter, QBE Re

Carlos Matos is currently an AVP Lead Treaty Underwriter at QBE Re in New York City. He works with QBE Re's casualty treaty portfolio and has had some past experience working in their professional lines and multi-line areas as well. Carlos has been at QBE Re since 2016 and with the RU40s organization serving in the board since 2018. Since joining the reinsurance industry, Carlos has earned his CPCU and ARe designations. 
 
Prior to joining QBE Re, Carlos attended St. John's University, earning the diploma in Risk and Insurance at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business. This is a 1-year, two semester, 24 credit certificate program which helped him build a strong foundation of (re)insurance to kick-start his career. Additionally, Carlos has a Bachelors of Science in Resource Economics with a minor in Business Fundamentals from the University of Connecticut.

Steve Hiott - Technology Co-Chair
Vice President of Cyber Reinsurance, Gallagher Re

 

Steve Hiott is Vice President of Gallagher Re's North American Cyber Team in the New York production department at Gallagher Re. Steve grew up in Birmingham, AL before graduating from the University of Alabama with Bachelor’s Degrees focused in Economics and Philosophy. Prior to Gallagher, Steve spent six years as a reinsurance broker at Holborn Corporation.

Steve plays an essential role in helping to manage and intermediate client’s cyber-specific reinsurance programs. Steve has earned his Associates in Reinsurance and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designations and is currently pursuing his CFA designation. Steve spends his spare volunteering with the University of Alabama Alumni Association (New York City Chapter) as acting president.

Madhuri Kumar - Tour Chair

Madhuri Kumar is a capital actuary and services firms on risk exposure analytics, economic and regulatory capital management, reinsurance structuring and climate risk modelling in a wide range of re/insurance markets. She works as a research volunteer in multiple working parties for international actuarial and industry groups including sustainability, climate risk, Solvency II, and Atlantic hurricanes. Outside of an actuarial and finance background, she holds qualifications in Climate risk and Sustainability. She’s currently Executive Director and Lead of Climate services for URS, a capital technology and risk advisory firm based in New York.

With a BBA in Risk Management & Insurance from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In his current position, Rikin excels at fostering and maintaining strong cedant relationship, ensuring their unique needs and expectations are met with precision. Before joining WTW, Rikin served as a Risk Analyst in the Global Insurance & Risk Management division at Duke Energy. Kali started with Swiss Re in June of 2018 and is currently based in Schaumburg, IL. She started her career at Swiss Re through the graduates@swissre program where she worked in Large Loss Management and completed job rotations in both underwriting and claims. She spent 3.5 years in treaty underwriting on the Broker Regional 1 Client Markets team supporting several regional clients from both a property and casualty perspective and was a member of the US Broker Regional 1 Florida team. She currently works in the Globals division as a Senior Client Manager where she is responsible for managing global client relationships, managing a cross functional team, and driving a dedicated strategy to deliver customized solutions that fit her client's needs.
