Steve Hiott is Vice President of Gallagher Re's North American Cyber Team in the New York production department at Gallagher Re. Steve grew up in Birmingham, AL before graduating from the University of Alabama with Bachelor’s Degrees focused in Economics and Philosophy. Prior to Gallagher, Steve spent six years as a reinsurance broker at Holborn Corporation.
Steve plays an essential role in helping to manage and intermediate client’s cyber-specific reinsurance programs. Steve has earned his Associates in Reinsurance and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designations and is currently pursuing his CFA designation. Steve spends his spare volunteering with the University of Alabama Alumni Association (New York City Chapter) as acting president.
Shane Parcel is an AVP of Program Underwriting at MS Transverse. Focusing on Casualty Programs.
He has been in the Insurance Industry for roughly 10 years and holds a CRIS designation as well as a Property and Casualty producer license. Shane graduated from Roger Williams University in 2014 with degrees in Marketing and Management. He is honored to hold the position of Education co-chair and looks forward to working with the team and helping grow the Re-Under 40's group.
Taylor Ward is a Senior Consultant within the Global Insurance Services practice of FTI Consulting with over 12 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Some of her work at FTI has included: assisting in the investigation of one of the largest fraud cases in the United States; supporting experts in litigation matters; investigating potential and suspected fraud cases; working alongside insurance companies to improve various processes; and leading internal audits of Managing General Underwriters and Third-Party Administrators on behalf of insurance carrier clients. Prior to her employment with FTI, Taylor worked in the accounting and claims departments of a Managing General Agency in Louisiana servicing commercial accounts with their property and casualty lines of business.
Taylor holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern State University and a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. She also holds her Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter Designation and Louisiana Claims Adjuster license. In addition to her current role on the Reinsurance Under 40s Intern Event Committee, she is an active member of the New York City Association of Insurance Women and the Association of Professional Insurance Women. Taylor has previously served on the Reinsurance Under 40s board as Charity Co-Chair from 2022-2023 and as Vice President from 2023-2024.
Alexander Torske has been with Munich Re since 2017. He currently works as a Property Treaty Underwriter for Munich Re US under the Global Clients / North America division based out of NYC. Prior to Property Treaty underwriting, he spent two years as a Graduate Trainee completing rotations and projects for various Munich Re business units such as American Modern Insurance Group- product development, Insuretech, Ocean Marine, Casualty Facultative, and central US P&C entities including Reserving, Strategy, and Claims. Alexander studied Finance and Economics at McGill University and holds CPCU and ARe designations.
Teddy Carroll is an Underwriting Analyst on the Casualty Treaty team at RenaissanceRe. His focus is on Professional Liability & Cyber and is based in the NYC office.
He has the Associate in Reinsurance designation and graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is honored to hold the Social Co-Chair position and is excited to contribute to another great year with Re Under 40.
Kevin is an underwriter working in the US Treaty Casualty team for Liberty Mutual Reinsurance in Stamford, CT. Prior to joining the reinsurance industry, Kevin obtained a degree in Economics & Finance from University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Joining LMRe in 2021 in the graduate development program, Kevin has had the opportunity to rotate throughout all underwriting and functional teams within LMRe US and has also spent a summer working for LMRe’s International Treaty Property team in London, UK. Now moving into his full time role in the US Treaty Casualty team, Kevin is excited to learn more about the market and look to utilize skills he’s learned across different lines. Kevin also obtained an Associate in Reinsurance in the fall of 2022.
Lauren is currently a Property Facultative Underwriter at Swiss Re working on their North American Property book. She is a member of the Graduates@SwissRe program 22' Class. Prior to joining Swiss Re, Lauren held internships with Trisura Specialty Insurance and Guy Carpenter's Broker team. She is also an active member of the Young Risk Professionals -NYC chapter. Lauren graduated in 2022 from Whittier College with a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and is looking forward to working with the Social and Intern Event's team for a third year.
Jack Deasy is Vice President within the ProLink Solutions group within BMS Re. Jack began his carrier at JLT Re in Philadelphia prior to joining BMS Re NY in July of 2020. Since joining BMS he has focused on MGA placements, specifically casualty QS and XOL placements.
James (Jimmy) Marshall joined Acrisure Re in January of 2023. He is currently a Graduate Broker on the account management team, supporting production through all stages of placement and operations associated with both new and renewal business. Consistent with the expertise of Acrisure Re, Jimmy has experience serving a diverse range of clients from Start-Up MGAs with novel products to publicly traded carriers with unique requirements.
Jimmy is a graduate of the Risk Management and Insurance Program at the University of South Carolina and an Alumni of Gamma Iota Sigma, the International Risk Management and Insurance fraternity.
Ann Marie has 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry with a focus on property. She started her career underwriting outwards international property and casualty at CNA, transitioning into global shared and layered placements. She also worked at RT Specialty before joining Ascot in June 2021, where she is currently a Vice President on the Property Facultative Automatics team. Ann Marie holds a BS in Risk Management and Insurance from St. John’s University
Kar Leng is a pricing actuary in the Structured Solutions team at Swiss Re. She helps to price large tailored transactions for clients in the Americas, providing both retrospective and prospective solutions for those looking to optimize capital, manage earnings volatility and build operational efficiency. Prior to this role, she was in Group Internal Audit driving reviews across actuarial, underwriting, and risk management areas. She has 8 years of actuarial and management consulting experience before joining Swiss Re in 2021. Kar Leng hails from Malaysia and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Boriana is a Senior Vice President and Facultative Program Underwriter at Munich Re, based in Chicago. She is responsible for producing and handling a complex and profitable book of casualty program business. Boriana develops and manages key partnerships with brokers and clients nationwide. In addition to serving as line of business lead for Umbrella Liability and contributing to the Automobile Liability Expert Group, she has attained valuable international experience through a rotation with Munich Re in London. Boriana began her career with Chubb as a multinational package underwriter and held a role as a casualty facultative underwriter at Gen Re prior to joining Munich Re.
Boriana has earned a Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University and an MBA from Roosevelt University. She has also achieved a CPCU designation. Outside of the office, she co-founded and serves as President of TREAT Foundation, a non-profit organization in Chicago. Boriana is fluent in Bulgarian, and enjoys traveling and reading in her spare time.
Kali started with Swiss Re in June of 2018 and is currently based in Schaumburg, IL. She started her career at Swiss Re through the graduates@swissre program where she worked in Large Loss Management and completed job rotations in both underwriting and claims. She spent 3.5 years in treaty underwriting on the Broker Regional 1 Client Markets team supporting several regional clients from both a property and casualty perspective and was a member of the US Broker Regional 1 Florida team. She currently works in the Globals division as a Senior Client Manager where she is responsible for managing global client relationships, managing a cross functional team, and driving a dedicated strategy to deliver customized solutions that fit her client's needs. Kali graduated from Florida State University with her B.S. in Risk Management & Insurance and Human Resources Management in Fall of 2017.

Bi-lingual in Spanish, English and fluent in Portuguese. Work experience in the United States and Latin America, specializing in the Latin American markets. Master in Business Administration with education degrees from the United States and Chile.
Catherine is a Vice President and Casualty Facultative Certificate Underwriter at Munich Re, based in Chicago. She began her career in 2009 with W.R. Berkley and has held various underwriting roles at Catlin, AmTrust E&S and The Hartford / Navigators prior to joining Munich Re in 2022. She has completed the CPCU designation as well as AINS, AU and ASLI from The Institutes, and the CRIS (Construction Risk Insurance Professional) and TRIP (Transportation Risk Insurance Professional) designations from IRMI. She is currently pursuing her MBA in Insurance from Olivet College as well as the ARe designation from the Institutes. Catherine is a member of the Audit & Compliance Committee for the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA).
Underwriter, Everest
Andrew is a Facultative Property Reinsurance Underwriter at Everest Re. Andrew joined Everest Re in November 2021. He successfully completed Everest’s two-year Reinsurance Associate Program, gaining valuable experience in both Facultative Casualty and Facultative Property Reinsurance. Prior to his time at Everest, Andrew began his career in Personal Insurance at The Horton Group in Orland Park, IL, starting in June 2020. He holds a B.S. in Risk Management & Insurance from Illinois State University. Since Spring 2023, Andrew has been an ambassador on the ReUnder40s Chicago Board.
Daniel is currently a Treaty Underwriter for the Latin American department at Everest in Miami. Prior to holding that position, he was part of Munich Re as a Cyber Reinsurance Underwriter and as a member of the International Graduate Trainee program in NYC. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Daniel works with various countries and cultures while placing creative and innovative treaty structures.
Kelsey Hayes - Chicago team
Kelsey Hayes is a Financial and Professional Lines Underwriter at Munich Re. She graduated from Illinois State University in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management and Insurance. Following graduation, Kelsey joined Munich Re's International Graduate Trainee Program, where she spent two years developing her insurance and reinsurance underwriting knowledge. During her time in the International Graduate Trainee Program, she received her CPCU designation and spent time in London exploring the Casualty market, focusing on financial and professional risks.
Sebastian Blomeier - Miami team

Sebastian is an English qualified solicitor based in Miami and concentrates his practice on insurance and reinsurance law, including policy coverage advise, liability defence and subrogation claims, and on Latin American international arbitration cases.
Prior to working with Clyde & Co, Sebastian served as a Claims Manager at a leading German reinsurance company in Munich and re-joined Clyde & Co in 2022. He obtained his LL.M. from University College London and is a visiting fellow at St Mary’s University for internal arbitration and insurance law. Sebastian is fluent in Spanish, German and English.

Maria Jose Barona - Miami team

Maria Jose has almost 13 years of experience in the facultative market from Miami. In 2012 she began her career at Howden Insurance, LLC where she spent 3 years managing Compliance and Policy Administration issues. When Howden and RKH joined, her role began for two years as Broker Assistant, supporting all the company's Senior Brokers for the Financial Lines, Casualty, Property and Construction risks for the entire region in Latin America. In 2017 she joined the Bowring Marsh office in Miami as a Facultative Broker (Assistant Vice President - AVP) for the entire region including the Caribbean with all business lines. Finally, in June 2019, she joined Willis Towers Watson’s team also in Facultative but for Central/South America, and Spanish Caribbean managing all the Property lines where she focused in this territories and also adding up as well the lines of Terrorism and Oil and Gas.

Ben is an attorney in Foley & Lardner’s Insurance Practice Group. Ben represents insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and other entities in the reinsurance industry in regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. Ben regularly guides reinsurance industry clients through corporate transactions, provides analysis and advice regarding complex regulatory compliance issues, and represents clients in disputes, including mediation, arbitration, litigation, receiverships, and liquidations. His experience includes advising clients with respect to acquisitions, insurance holding company act issues, as well as compliance, licensing, and cybersecurity requirements, including regarding new developments in reinsurance regulation.

Payton is a Reinsurance Associate Underwriter at Everest Re in the International division, where she is participating in a two-year rotational development program. In her first year, Payton gained experience with the International Claims team and the Treaty Caribbean Underwriting team, both based in Miami, Florida.
Payton graduated from Florida State University in Spring 2023 with a B.S. in Risk Management & Insurance. Since then, she has earned the ARe designation and is currently pursuing her CPCU. She is also actively involved in the Everest Charitable Committee as the Global Branch Liaison Coordinator and serves on the Executive Board of the Miami Seminole Club, part of the FSU Alumni Association.
